Mark Rylance Virtual Visit to DBGS

“It was our privilege to be able to spend an enjoyable hour in pleasant conversation with Sir Mark Rylance, recently.
Sir Mark was educated at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), with our own Mr Jerry Flynn. It was at RADA that Jerry and Mark became friends and that friendship has flourished and lasted to this day. We are fortunate to have Mr Flynn as a valued member of our team who, through his warm association with one of Hollywood’s biggest names, was able to set up the Q&A conversation.
The excellent questions, prepared and posed by our students, provoked thoughtful responses from Sir Mark, who kept us transfixed. His insight into the world of theatre, movies and life in general was shared with warmth, humour and generosity – it was inspirational and fun.
I’d like to express our appreciation to Sir Mark by sharing our experience. So, sit back and enjoy an hour in conversation with Sir Mark Rylance…” (Eddie Liptrot ISG Superintendent)

“We were delighted recently to welcome Sir Mark Rylance, via a live video link, to a question and answer session with staff and pupils at DBGS. This was a marvellous experience for all concerned as we were given an insight into the life of an actor with experience of stage, television and the world of movies. Sir Mark’s answers were honest and informative. Many thanks to Mr Jerry Flynn for putting all of this together. We look forward to many more such events.’ (David Bolton Acting Head of DBGS Secondary)

‘The DBGS Drama Studio Monday 29 May is a day we will all remember for a very long time to come – our live Q&A session with internationally acclaimed actor Sir Mark Rylance, along with Patchi his dog! What an honour it was and how lucky we all were to have the pleasure of Sir Mark’s company. DBGS students young and old and staff alike, took the chance to ask him many questions covering a broad range of topics. Everyone had a wonderful time, and if we’re unable to attend, you can see the session in full if you visit the link below.’
