Oman Update 2

The students are having a great time. They are working really hard, feeling tired but still smiling.
They successfully made it through the two day hike and today visited a local coffee shop and market. The old village of Abyad was really interesting. This afternoon the group headed off up the wadi in search of the camp for tonight and a pool to wash/swim in. Spirits are still very high.

Oman Update

Arrived safely and spent the first night camped on the beach. Weather is beautiful although a bit hot and humid in the night.
This morning we are heading over to old Muscat and then getting ready to move on. More updates to follow, telecommunication signals permitting.

World Maths Day … What to Expect

It’s World Maths Day soon, on Tuesday 1st March. World Maths Day is all about participation. It is a truly international event, with students from all corners of the world playing against each other in real-time battles of mental arithmetic. Your child has been given their username and password, to access the website, www.worldmathsday.com

What to Expect

On Tuesday 1st March students will have to complete 20 games at each of the 5 levels, each game lasting 60 seconds, so 100 games in total during the event. So, in the meantime, your child can begin practising for the competition and can play as many games as they wish on ANY level. Points will be recorded but do not count towards the March 1st total, only the practice total.

The goal is to answer as many mental arithmetic questions as possible per game. Once a student has completed 20 games per level, they will move to the next level.

World Maths Day commences the moment it is Tuesday 1st March and the website will be counting down the time, so keep watch. The event concludes 48 hours later when it is no longer March 1st anywhere in the world. Students can continue to play after the event, however all points achieved during this time will be added to the Mathometer (World Score). No more points will be added to the student’s World Maths Day personal point score.

Enjoy, have fun and be part of it!

Dhahran’s Got Talent

The date for this years talent show has been moved. DBGS students will now have the opportunity to polish up their acts for an end of school year celebration in June. The final date will be confirmed after the half term break and auditions will begin in April.

If DBGS students would like the opportunity to be part of the show then now is the time to start thinking about their act and polishing their performance. Good luck!
