Under 11 Boys Football Tournament

Last weekend, our under 11 boys’ team participated in a football tournament at Saint Christopher’s School in Bahrain. They played altogether 14 matches with various schools across the Gulf. Well done to our rising footballers and many thanks to their coaches, and to Saint Christopher’s School for hosting the games. We are sharing some photos of their tournament.

LRC Book Fair

DBGS children all levels included are visiting the LRC Book Fair throughout this week. They will be able to browse and select books from the extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction books available at the fair. The students will later be able to buy their chosen books.

Cambridge Outstanding Learners Awards

Yesterday the British Council hosted the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards at Prince Mohammed Program for Youth Development in Dammam.

DBGS students were well represented. Yasemin Senai (Year 13) took the High Achievement Award in AS French Language and Arwa Akkari (Year 13) won the High Achievement Prize in AS Psychology.  We are particularly delighted that two of our first small cohort of AS level students achieved such prestigious awards. Congratulations to them and their teachers.

Our IGCSE students also won prizes. Jacob Lawson won the High Achievement Award for Economics, Farah Elhamri and Frank Megarry both achieved the highest marks in the Eastern Province for Foreign Language French and Geography respectively.

Under 13 BSME Games in Abu Dhabi

The BSME team from DBGS comprising captains and performers are back from the Abu Dhabi competitions. Coming back from their challenging contests, the performers shared their experiences with us. While the girls participated in football, netball and athletics, the boys took part in football, volleyball and athletics during the four-day competitions that lasted between the 18th and 21st of January.

First-time, second-time as well as third-time performers skilfully competed against sixteen other BSME teams from across the Middle East, an experience that they describe as ‘fun’ and ‘very competitive’. The games were held in the New-York University of Abu Dhabi.

During their escapade, the DBGS team visited Ferrari World and the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi. The team also enjoyed building new friendly relationships with their peers from different BSME teams across the Middle East. Both captains and performers are looking forward to more visits, more games, and more competitions in the near future. Well done to our players…

Young Musicians of the Gulf

Yesterday we attended the Semi-Finals of the Young Musicians of the Gulf at St Christopher’s Primary School in Bahrain. The standard of the performances was superb. The dedication and determination necessary to achieve such a high level of skill is truly admirable. Dhahran British Grammar School has been building up its music programme over the last three years. Next year, we hope that we will have some of our students competing at this level too.
